There are many events everywhere that include coding but what is the benefit? Teaching kids coding at a young age encourages STEM careers and opens many possibilities for their future along with giving them a motivation. Adding on, teaching coding, especially to girls is important because it shows them that anyone can do it and even if they are a minority in that career, it doesn’t mean they can’t achieve their goals. This leads more females into the STEM worlds so they too can make a difference. Hackathon
One event that we’ve seen often are Hackathons. They’re especially good events to open up the creative and problem-solving minds of future developers. Unlike other competitions, these focus on allowing your ability to grow and improve in unique and challenging ways. The competition causes kids to focus and create a solution to a given real – world issue in teams. This also exposes them to experiences of working together under a time constraint to each a common goal; teamwork skills are learned here as well.
Well you may be thinking they are just another stereotypical programming event but actually they are much more. The goal of Hackathons are to build solutions to real-world problems that you are passionate about through coding which means it is a creative space where kids can compete to improve their skills and get involved in new topics. Hackathons bring out the designer and innovative side of kids out and will allow them to explore their creative side more along with putting in their coding skills.
